Best cloud gaming service for fighting games

Cloud and fighting games used to be a non-starter. Rollback netcode plus low-latency servers changed that — for one service.

The brutal latency math

Fighting games at the competitive level live and die by frame data. A move that comes out in 3 frames at 60fps means you have 50ms of input window. Add 30ms of cloud streaming latency on top of that and you've effectively turned a 3-frame move into a 5-frame one.

Most cloud gaming services simply can't deliver fighting-game-grade latency. The exception is GeForce Now Ultimate.

Our pick: GeForce Now Ultimate

NVIDIA Reflex integration plus 240Hz-capable rigs put end-to-end latency at ~28ms in our testing. That's roughly 2 frames at 60fps — enough to play Street Fighter 6 or Tekken 8 without feeling actively penalised.

Crucially, GeForce Now's bring-your-own-library means you play with your own controller bindings, your own ranked progress, and your own friends list. No catalog churn.

What about online matches?

If your fighting game has rollback netcode (Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear Strive, MultiVersus, Killer Instinct, etc.), online play through cloud streaming is genuinely viable on GeForce Now. The cloud streaming latency replaces the local-render latency, but the rollback handles the additional jitter the way it would for any internet match.

Why the others miss

Xbox Cloud Gaming and Boosteroid sit at 38–42ms latency, which puts you a clear frame behind on a 60fps fighting game. PS Plus Premium isn't really targeted at this use case at all. We can't recommend any of them for serious fighting game play.
