How to set up PlayStation Plus Premium
PS Plus Premium streaming setup differs depending on whether you're on a PS5 or a Windows PC. The PS5 path is dead simple; the PC path needs the standalone PlayStation app.
Steps
- 01
Subscribe to Premium
Premium is the highest PS Plus tier. Essential and Extra do not include cloud streaming.
- 02
On PS5: just press Stream
Streamable games show a 'Stream' option alongside 'Download'. Pick stream and you're playing in seconds — no settings to tweak.
- 03
On PC: install PlayStation app
Download the standalone PlayStation app for Windows from playstation.com/playstation-app. Sign in with your PSN account.
- 04
Connect your controller
DualSense over USB-C is the recommended path. Bluetooth works but introduces measurable extra latency. DualShock 4 is supported as a fallback.
- 05
Enable 4K (where available)
For 4K-supported PS5 first-party titles, set the resolution to 4K under Streaming Quality. Sony recommends a 38 Mbps connection.
Common problems
PC app won't launch on Windows 11
PlayStation app requires .NET runtime; install via Microsoft Store if missing. Run as Administrator on the first launch only.
Stream falls back to 1080p when I want 4K
Even with the right plan, 4K is only available on a subset of titles. The streaming menu shows the maximum tier per title.
DualSense vibration not working
Adaptive triggers and haptics work over USB only. Bluetooth limits the controller to basic rumble.
