How to set up GeForce Now
Getting GeForce Now running takes about 10 minutes. The biggest gotcha is that you need accounts on the storefronts where your games already live — NVIDIA streams those games for you, but doesn't sell them.
Steps
- 01
Pick a tier
Free is fine for testing latency. Performance gets you 1440p/60. Ultimate is the only one with 4K and 240Hz support — only worth it on a TV or 120Hz+ monitor.
- 02
Install the client
Native apps exist for Windows, macOS, Android and ChromeOS. iOS and Smart TVs run via the web app at play.geforcenow.com.
- 03
Sign in to your storefronts
Inside the GeForce Now app, link your Steam, Epic Games, Xbox PC, Ubisoft Connect and EA accounts. Each link is one-time and unlocks any supported game on that store.
- 04
Run the network test
GeForce Now's settings menu has a built-in network test. Run it before paying for Ultimate — if your latency to the nearest data center is above 60ms, the experience won't justify the price.
- 05
Tune your stream
Enable Reflex on Ultimate. Set the stream to match your monitor's max refresh rate. Disable mobile hotspot if you're on a laptop — it can introduce jitter.
Common problems
Game won't launch — 'not supported on this rig'
Some games are limited to specific tiers. Verify the game is supported in the search box; if it's tier-limited, you may need Ultimate.
Stutter every few seconds on Wi-Fi
Likely 2.4GHz interference. Switch to 5GHz or 6GHz, or wire in. GeForce Now's status bar shows packet loss — anything above 0.5% is a network issue.
Can't find a specific Steam game
GeForce Now requires per-publisher agreements. Check NVIDIA's supported game list — if it's not there, NVIDIA hasn't negotiated for it yet.
